Pin it Forward UK

Pin It Forward UK 2013

Hello! Today I'm excited to be joining in the Pinterest Pin it Forward UK Campaign, spreading the word about the fabulous Pinterest across the UK. During this campaign, 300 UK bloggers are posting about why they love Pinterest, and their favourite boards. I was sad not to be able to attend the Pinterest party in London last month, but I'm very happy to be invited to join in with this campaign!

I began using Pinterest last summer as part of a uni assignment, using it to research what inspired me. Now I find it is such an amazing tool to use to begin a textiles project. I can collect images which inspire me, and start creating moods all at the click of the 'Pin It' button! If I see an artist or designer whose work I like or an idea which I think is great, I can pin images to a board and actually find it again! What I really like is that you can (almost) always find the source of the image, which is really important to whoever has created it.

I am choosing to write about my Display/ Style/ Arrangement board today which I have found so valuable over the past few months. I have used it to collect images with a great styling idea, or a way of displaying something in an interesting way. To a textile designer, if I wanted to sell my products, photographing and styling the products in an appealing way is almost as important as the design itself. This board has helped inspire me with styling and photographing my work this project, as well as arranging my degree show display.

I find Pinterest not only a lot of fun, but also very valuable to my work! Do you use Pinterest?

And now I am introducing you to three lovely bloggers to continue #pinitforwarduk...

Make sure you check out their gorgeous Pinterests too!

Business Cards

I received my new business cards from Moo this week and I'm pretty happy with them. I went with 6 different designs in the end, of my wallpaper and fabric patterns and one of a photoshoot of my wallpapers. I chose their 100% recycled 'green' business cards, so they are a nice heavy, matte paper.

I like the handy little business card box that they send you, too.

I'm also really happy to be on the front of the Creative Futures 2013 brochure (along with Tabitha Cottrell's colourful hedgehog), celebrating Bath Spa's creative talent.

Only two more days until my final hand-in so I'm off back to work now!

Deadline Week

This week is a strange one. It means lots of mounting, printing, sticking, and organising. And a thousand and one to-do lists.

I was really happy today to receive my brand new business cards from Moo. I love their packaging and fun branding almost as much as their business cards. I got my six designs printed onto 100% recycled paper, which I will show you in a post soon - so stay tuned!

Working from home without my studio buddies can be pretty lonely, but my depleted cactus family are still here, staring out the window. We're all hoping for sunnier weather for after the deadline.

Only 6 days to go until I'm basically done with BA degree work forever! Eeps!

Goodbye Studio

Yesterday we cleared everything from our studios in order to make way for our degree show spaces. It's all becoming so real! I was quite sad to say goodbye to the colourful studios in which I've been working for the past three years (remember what it used to look like?). But I'm excited to start painting my exhibition space and start putting my work up. The deadline is in 12 days time!

My bedroom is therefore currently full of art supplies and piles of fabric and tiles that need to be sorted. In preparation for the degree show we have all taken different roles. Mine is helping sort out the website and social media. So here's the Twitter for the Bath School of Art and Design Textile degree show - follow us!

In other news, I was thrilled to discover at about 11pm last night that I have been placed at #20 of the Telegraph's Top 50 interior design websites! (Thanks Stacey for the heads up!).

Weekend

1. The set of Matilda the musical, on West End
2. A fox running along my street
3. My Mum's snazzy new trousers
4. Beautiful cakes in the window of BB Bakery
5. Wahaca for a Mexican, tapas-style lunch
6. I love all the patterns on the walls
7. Wahaca
8. My hibicus mojito
9. More cocktails
10. Stumbling across the rehearsals of the Olivier Awards, listening to Wicked the musical
11. Complimentary macarons
12. Raspberry and caramel
13. A runaway canary
14. Homemade Devil's food birthday cake
15. (A Jane Asher recipe)

As it was my boyfriend's birthday this weekend, I spend a couple of days in London. My Mum and I shopped until we dropped (I literally did) on Saturday for my graduation dress! I eventually settled on a lovely floaty orange number, perfect for the summer. On Saturday night Alex and I saw Matilda at the West End, which was so much fun. I can't believe how talented the children are!

Sunday consisted of a relaxed birthday lunch at Wahaca, a new London restaurant which I really recommend. We filled our table with delicious mini quesadillas, tosados, tacos, and mojitos of course. For dessert we shared churros with chocolate, and the most divine salted caramel ice cream. I baked devil's food cake for the first time, which managed to be amazingly chocolatey but surprisingly light. Yum!

I'm ready for the final push to finish this project, which is why I haven't had the time to blog much lately. But I have plenty of posts planned for after my deadline on the 20th May!
What did you get up to this weekend?

Final Project Sneak Peek

Hello lovelies, I hope your week is going well!
I am not posting much of my project up here until after the degree show, but here are a few photos that I took tonight just before I left uni.

My little cactus family have made their way to the window to soak up the Spring sun rays...

...along with some sunny colours ready to be screen printed onto fabric.

Some very close up photos of my fabric designs!

And a bit of a scary timetable, beginning to plan each day for the next 4 weeks left of my degree! (Don't worry, there is a party section at the bottom).
